Who am I and what is this?

Who am I?

I’m Mary Cooch, formerly a French and German teacher for 28 years, currently Education Manager at Moodle HQ and permanently passionate about languages.

I have just begun learning Russian, and this is a blog about my progress. I’ll review materials I am using, report on what’s challenging – and rewarding -about the learning process – and ask for advice whenever I get stuck. If you’re a fluent Russian speaker or a new learner like myself, I’d love to hear from you.

Why am I learning Russian?

For two reasons:

1. Because I want to keep my brain in gear as I get older, and learning a new language is a good way to do that
2. Because my son works in Russia and I want to be able to visit him without feeling ashamed when we go out together.
